Potawatomi Tribal Leaders in the Spotlight

I watched Gus Frank, the Chairman of the Forest County Potawatomi, give an interview on 'Indian Pride' a local program last night. He is a well spoken man who talked about the Forest County Potawatomi tribal government. I realized he is probably the only one beside Billy Daniels, from the Forest County Band, I would know by sight, I really should get out more and go to more Potawatomi Gatherings!

Also there is a profile of Tracy Stanhoff in the 'Indian Country Today' newspaper!

Are the Buses going to stop at Mystic Lake?

I heard through the Potawatomi grapevine, that the buses going to the '07 Potawatomi Gathering might stop at the Mystic Lake Casino and Hotel next Tuesday! Mystic Lake is a hop, skip, and jump away from my crash-pad! If that is true I am going out there with my camera and take pictures of everyone that I can, put them on my blog, and give a way four or five of my books!

New Michigan casino...

New Michigan casino counts of support from Indiana gamblers and casino employers

"Visitors to Four Winds -- just off Interstate 94 across the Michigan line, about 75 minutes from Tinley Park -- will be greeted by wood, logs and granite touches, said Harkness, who described Four Winds as a "natural product" casino.

The mile-long driveway leading to Four Winds is expected to set the tone for the rest of the experience, with the winding path filled with natural wetlands, trees and grass, Harkness said. The entrance so far has been blocked to keep out a curious public.

Once they reach the casino, gamblers will enter a 2,000-spot garage and lodge building. An elevator leads guests directly onto the property, which includes 3,000 slot machines, 85 table games and 19 poker tables in a separate poker room.

Harkness said Four Winds' slot machines are linked to the other American Indian casinos throughout the United States, so they are able to offer multimillion-dollar jackpots."

Michigan woman's body found day after wedding!

"The FBI is investigating the death of a Potawatomi woman who was killed a day after her wedding.

Loretta Wandahsega, 34, was found dead in her home last Thursday. She was a member of the Hannahville Indian Community of Michigan. Results of the autopsy are pending but authorities have a suspect in custody. They would not say whether the man was Wandahsega's husband."
