Yesterday I was reading Jim Northrup's 'Fond Du Lac Follies' column in that lame Native American Twin Cities newspaper 'The Circle.'
(That paper, over the years, refused to print a poem of mine, a book review of my book, and the area booksignings I have had in Minneapolis!)
Northrup wrote in his monthly column about how the Black Bear Casino management was coming down on their employees who spoke the Ojibwe language at the Fond Du Lac Casino, which is situated in Northern Minnesota. He gave acouple of examples of this happening and one was when a employee told a customer 'Miigwech' which in Ojibwe means 'Thank you.'and the customer thought the employee was calling her a bitch and made a complaint.
Now this is a good example why we should make English the Universal Language, that way if we go attack a country and take their land and their culture away from them, they will already know English.
